

The Medieval Festival of the Oradea Fortress in summer is well worth a visit with its medieval troops, armour exhibitions, medieval fight,… The event promotes local craftsmen too. The Met Cloisters, the Museums branch dedicated to the art and architecture of medieval Europe, is located on four acres overlooking the Hudson River in northern Manhattans Fort Tryon Park. It houses the Institute of fine Arts.Cultural events take place there too. The fortress dates back from the Middle Ages and is rich with Christian legends about King Saint Ladislaus it attracts pilgrims from all corners of Europe. Oradea Fortress was one important religious, cultural, scientific, humanist and military landmark it was built in its actual form by Italian, Hungarian and Austrian architects. The signature cities were usually also royal seats, with some exceptions.

Oradea is not only one of the most beautiful cities in Romania, it is also one of the best medieval destinations in Europe. Some of the city rulers were Emperors as in Byzantium, some were the wily old Doges of Venice, Popes, Patricians, Bishops, Clans, Chieftains, Kings, Queens, Mayors, Maesters, take your pick really.
